A way of recycling that anyone can do
we guarantee it

The Recycling House
Welcome / The Recycling House

Who says sustainable development can’t be fun and achievable?

This is not about judging or finger-wagging when it comes to recycling!

There is no need for it: here, we help recycling become second nature and fun thanks to our colourful waste bins just waiting to gobble up your cans and other daily rubbish.

We discovered an original way to educate campers big and small about the challenges of recycling, thanks to the use of signs, colours, and play.

Bright and Colourful

The Recycling House was born at the Beauregard Plage Campsite in 2021,

Concerned for the environment and the impact our waste was having on the ecosystem, we decided to make our own special form of commitment, and set up a recycling station in our campsite in Marseillan.

Every piece of waste collected: household waste, glass, cardboard, packaging, metal, plastic bottles, batteries, and even corks are collected and evaluated, either on-site or by our local partners.

Did you know?

Compacting plastic bottles not only helps reduce the amount of plastic, it also helps diminish the number of trips the rubbish truck has to take.

Less truck trips means less of an impact on the carbon footprint!

Our commitments and actions

All the money raised through the resale of metal is donated to the charity,Sea Shepherd, for the preservation of marine biodiversity.

All plastic bottle tops are donated to the charity,Bouchons d’Amour, to help finance equipment for people with disabilities.

Lastly, thanks to the help of the shop, Biocoop, corks are given a new chance at life by being donated to winegrowers.

In 2023, we added another bow to our quiver, by installing see-through bin bags and bio containers, available at reception. Our campsite is also there to help and educate our campers through the recycling process for the entirety of their stay!

And all that effort is paying off

  • 15 000 less plastic bottles used thanks to our water fountain!
  • 2 800 L less household waste thanks to our composter
  • 40% less non-recycled waste created
  • plus 50% less recyclables, Recycling is great, but using less packaging is even better!

A few tips and tricks during your stay

  • Try to bring your own containers for your fruit and veg, cheeses, food truck and deli meals, pastries etc. before heading out to the market or bakery…
  • Instead of throwing away your used water from your washing-up, shower, or strained pasta, rice and potatoes, use it to water your plants!
  • Recycle your glass food jar containers, or, if you enjoy a bit of arts and crafts, why not make a DIY candle or mosquito repellent for indoors,
  • To visit the local surroundings, leave the car behind, and head off to explore on foot, or hop on a bus, onto a bike or scooter, or on a train. The perfect way to be more green and work on that Summer body!
  • And if the visit is not accessible without a vehicle, then why not ask your next door neighbours? You’re sure to find someone off on the same trip, so why not turn yourselves into carpooling campers?
